Streetlight Releases 3 Songs Amidst Album Date Pushback

In a move as unpredictable as their genre-bending music, Streetlight Manifesto had announced a delay for their long-awaited album, “The Place Behind The Stars.” But in a gesture of goodwill to their fervent fanbase, the ska-punk luminaries have surprise-released three new songs from the forthcoming record, offering a substantial taste of what’s to come.

The album, originally slated for a June 24, 2025 release, has been pushed back to the fall, with a more concrete date yet to be announced. The news came directly from frontman Tomas Kalnoky in a candid and apologetic social media post. “As you surely know by now, few things in life are less certain than a Streetlight record release date,” Kalnoky wrote with the band’s signature self-aware humor. He took sole responsibility for the delay, citing personal reasons and a commitment to meeting the high standards set by their previous work.

To soften the blow, the band simultaneously uploaded three new tracks to their YouTube page: “Imagine This,” “Everything to Everyone,” and “Enormous.” Together, the songs clock in at nearly 20 minutes, a clear indication that the band’s penchant for lengthy, intricate compositions remains firmly intact.

The new offerings have been met with a wave of excitement from fans, who have eagerly dissected the tracks online. “Enormous” is being hailed as a quintessential Streetlight Manifesto epic, with its sprawling structure, complex horn arrangements, and a palpable sense of defiant energy. “Imagine This” and “Everything to Everyone” are no less ambitious, showcasing the band’s lyrical depth and musical dexterity. The tracks are a potent reminder of why the New Jersey-based collective has maintained such a dedicated following for over two decades.

In a characteristically casual Instagram post announcing the new music, the band quipped, “Hi there. If you’re curious and/or interested, we put three new songs up on our YouTube page. Please feel free to learn some of the words because there might be too many for us to memorize before Friday and we could use the help. Ok bye.” This playful plea underscores the symbiotic relationship between Streetlight Manifesto and their fans, who are known for singing along to every polysyllabic lyric at their sold-out shows.

The three new songs will be integrated into the setlist for their upcoming “The Place Behind The Stars Tour 2025,” which includes a stop in Seattle at the Showbox SoDo on July 27th. This gives concert-goers a unique opportunity to experience the new material live, even before the full album is released.

While the delay of “The Place Behind The Stars” is undoubtedly a disappointment for those who have been patiently waiting for a new full-length since 2013’s “The Hands That Thieve,” the release of these three songs is a generous and well-received compromise. It’s a testament to the band’s unwavering commitment to their craft and their deep appreciation for their fans. For now, the Streetlight Manifesto faithful have a trio of new anthems to tide them over, a promise of the stellar album that is still to come.
