Racketeer Radio KFQX The New Golden Age of Radio
Strike up the pipes, lace up your boots and stand, because the Dropkick Murphys are about to march into summer — louder, bolder, and breathing fire straight from the belly of the working man. In a world wheezing on its own fumes, the Boston brawlers have burst through the smoke with a brand-new battle hymn for the hopeless, the heartbroken, and the hell-raisers: their thunderclap of an album titled, “For The People.” This highly anticipated record hits digital airwaves this Independence Day, July 4th, with a red, white, and raucous roar, followed by a full analog assault on October 10th.
But that’s not all – in a double-barreled blast of news, the Murphys are not just dropping music this summer; they’re dropping into your city with punk rock legends Bad Religion for a co-headlining tour that promises to be nothing short of incendiary. This isn’t just a comeback – it’s an uprising. “For The People” – A Battle Hymn for a Fractured World
“Here we go!” the band shouted from the rooftops this morning, sounding more like a warning shot than a teaser. And oh, dear reader, they mean business. “For The People” is no ordinary record; it’s a 12-track broadside laced with guest guns like the rebel minstrel Billy Bragg, the Irish rumblers The Scratch, the riotous Mary Wallopers, and – hold the phone – Al Barr himself, stepping back into the fray with the growl that shook souls from Southie to the South Side.
The whole powder keg’s been produced and mixed by Ted Hutt, a sonic arsonist known for turning passion into fire. And the cover? Draped in righteous rebellion from the brush of Shepard Fairey’s Studio Number One, the same streetwise outfit behind the iconic “OBEY” image. It’s artwork you don’t just hang — you salute.
The album’s lead single, “Who’ll Stand With Us?”, is already spinning on every speaker worth its salt. A bare-knuckled banger wrapped in grit, spit, and purpose, this isn’t just a song — it’s a dare. A question barked into the alleyways and backrooms of a fractured world: Who’s still got fight left in ’em? Directed with a snarling lens by Jon Vulpine, the video hits like a clenched fist, a cinematic sock in the jaw that plants the Murphys right back where they belong — in the thick of it.
Come October 10, vinyl and CD fans get the full arsenal. The DKM Store has thrown open its gates with not one, not two, but three sizzling variants of the LP — and every slab comes with five extra tracks, etched lyrics, and more love than your old man’s record shelf ever held.
The Summer of Discontent: Dropkick Murphys & Bad Religion
If the new album wasn’t enough to clog your arteries with adrenaline, the Murphys are hitting the road with punk rock legends Bad Religion for the “Summer of Discontent” tour. This 18-date juggernaut kicks off July 22 in Spokane, WA and rides full-throttle through the heartland of America before blowing the roof off Big Flats, NY on August 17.
“We are so fired up to spend the summer with these legends,” said Ken Casey, Murphys frontman and punk patriot. “We plan to give people a great night out when we hit their town. Gonna be a blast!!”
Guitarist Tim Brennan chimed in like a true disciple of punk fellowship: “Being able to tour with Bad Religion is such an exciting thing for us… We’re over the moon.”
From Tacoma’s Dune Peninsula to the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, the tour will feature support from The Mainliners and promises to merge two generations of punk into one unstoppable force of unity and defiance. Bad Religion’s Greg Graffin summed it up best: “This will be an event of epic proportions. The camaraderie, the togetherness — that’s what punk is all about.”
This summer, it’s not just music — it’s a movement. Dropkick Murphys have loaded the cannons, struck the match, and joined forces with their punk forebears to deliver what promises to be the most spirited, sweat-drenched, shout-along tour of the decade.
The album is for the people. The tour is for the fans. And if you’re not there? You’re missing history. So stand tall, tune in, and turn it all the way up. July 4, the fuse is lit. Come October 10, the streets will be echoing with the stomp and thunder of a band that’s always stood for something. This is “For The People.” And make no mistake: The people are ready.
