Racketeer Radio KFQX The New Golden Age of Radio
This multi-award-winning musical revue, steeped in the vibrant allure of the Harlem Renaissance, promises an unforgettable journey back to the Jazz Age, complete with live music, electrifying dance, and the poetic genius of Langston Hughes.
After Midnight, which runs from August 5th to August 24th, 2025, at The 5th Avenue Theatre, is the grand finale of their 2024/25 Season. Conceived by Jack Viertel, with selected text by the legendary Langston Hughes, this jukebox musical is a lavish celebration of the iconic Cotton Club era. It features a dazzling array of songs by jazz luminaries such as Duke Ellington, Dorothy Fields, and Harold Arlen, including timeless standards like “Stormy Weather,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.”
“Imagine stepping into the Cotton Club itself, feeling the pulse of the live jazz band, witnessing the incredible tap dance and the powerful voices of a dynamic cast,” says a spokesperson for Racketeer Broadcast Association. “That’s the immersive experience After Midnight offers, and it aligns perfectly with our mission to bridge the heart and soul of 1930s Jazz with today’s vibrant music and arts culture.”
The production boasts original staging and is directed by The 5th Avenue Theatre’s own Senior Director of Artistic Programming, Jay Santos. Santos, known for his critically acclaimed work on Spring Awakening, Sweeney Todd, and Beauty and the Beast, brings his creative vision to life, promising to transport audiences directly into the energy and elegance of Harlem’s famed nightlife.
After Midnight arrives in Seattle with a prestigious pedigree, having garnered significant recognition, including a Tony Award for Best Choreography (Warren Carlyle) and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for its captivating musical revue and choreography. The Seattle production proudly features a live jazz band on stage and showcases some of the finest tap dancing in the Pacific Northwest, making it a truly unique and high-caliber theatrical event.
“This isn’t just a musical; it’s an electric celebration, a vibe, a night you’ll want to disappear into,” For jazz aficionados and newcomers alike, After Midnight offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the rich musical tapestry that defined an era.

Bringing you the widest selection of oldies anywhere on our planet Earth. We play the very first golden age of American Rock n' Roll, the vast majority of songs predating the Beatles. On the show, you'll hear all the charted hits from and beyond the Top 40. All the hits & misses from the genres of Soul, Motown, Country, Doo-Wop, Folk and Rock & Roll. And why did you like Top 40 radio back in the '50s and '60s? Was it because they played non-stop music commercial free? No! Come on, it was because of the jingles, remember? Now on the show, we've turned back the hands of time and set the show as it should be with classic jingles and a radio personality from when radio was king, and not television. So join me, Rockin' Eddy, Thursdays at Noon, anywhere you are in the world, to discover or re-discover an extraordinary generation of music and I will take you back to the world gone away.
