The Strange Ones just released a raucous, high-energy cover of ELO’s 1977 classic “Turn to Stone,” putting their own fuzzed-out, riff-heavy spin on the orchestral rock staple. Marking The Strange Ones’ first release since their September 2024 album Attack of the Strange Ones, released on Minor Chords Records, a record that cemented their place in the modern scene with its gritty, high-octane sound. Their take on “Turn to Stone” continues their signature style, blending classic influences with a rougher, more rebellious energy.
Frontman Kevin O’Connell expressed his deep personal connection to the track, stating, “This song has always been a favorite of mine, so I was really happy when the band agreed to do it — and even happier to share it with you now. For my wife, Dana. My sweet-talking woman, my evil woman, my living thing. You’ve got a strange magic. I turn to stone when you are gone. Love you to Xanadu and back.”
The timing of the release couldn’t be better. “Turn to Stone” is out now on Bandcamp, and with today being Bandcamp Friday, all proceeds from the track go directly to the band without platform fees. In a move that speaks to their values, The Strange Ones are donating 100% of the sales to Planned Parenthood, supporting its crucial work in sexual and reproductive health care, education, and advocacy.
Fans can purchase the track for $2 or name their own price, knowing their contribution is going toward a meaningful cause. Don’t miss the chance to snag this electrifying take on a classic while making a difference—head over to Bandcamp now and turn up The Strange Ones’ latest release.
