The Riptides Set the World Ablaze with ‘Burn After Listening’ Declaring ‘End of the World’

Ottawa’s long-standing punk rock mainstays, The Riptides, are back with a vengeance, ready to make waves with their upcoming LP, Burn After Listening. After more than 25 years of delivering high-energy, melodic punk rock, the band is making a bold move to Pirates Press Records, setting the stage for their sound to reach an all-new worldwide audience. You can pre-order two limited vinyl pressings in ‘Tide Pod Marble’ and an ‘Aqua Blue’, set to release March, 7th. Along with the announcement of the new LP, The Riptides have released, ‘End of the World‘ their brand new single, followed with a music video.

Since their formation in 1998, The Riptides have remained fiercely independent, building their own studio and label to release their music and support Ottawa’s thriving punk scene. However, their influence has long transcended Canadian borders. Recording at top-tier U.S. studios became a staple of their journey, and Burn After Listening continues that tradition. The album was recorded at the legendary Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, with Andrew Berlin leading tracking and Jason Livermore handling the final master.

The recording sessions for Burn After Listening were anything but ordinary, bringing together a

powerhouse lineup of guest musicians, including members of Teenage Bottlerocket, All-American Rejects, Screeching Weasel, and The Queers. Additionally, several tracks feature co-writing credits from fellow Pirates Press Records artist Matt DeeCRACK, adding yet another layer of pedigree to the release.

Fusing attitude-driven downstroke riffs with infectious hooks and harmonies, The Riptides remain true to their signature aesthetic—one influenced by a mix of nerdy pop culture and surf-inspired vibes. With an already devoted fanbase spanning decades, this latest album is poised to introduce the band to a new generation of punk rock devotees.

Frontman Bob Goblin believes Burn After Listening captures the essence of The Riptides for both new listeners and longtime fans alike. “We’ve always loved fast, aggressive songs, but never shied away from the poppier stuff either,” he explains. “I can’t stand boring records where every song sounds exactly the same from top to bottom.” Assuring longtime fans, he adds, “They’ll get it. Our DNA from past records is all over this one.”

With Burn After Listening, The Riptides reaffirm their place in punk rock’s storied history while charting an exciting new course with Pirates Press Records. As they prepare to take their high-energy sound to fans around the globe, one thing is certain—this record is anything but disposable.
