The Last Gang Releases New Single from Upcoming Album, ‘Obscene Daydreams’

California punk rockers The Last Gang are ready to shake up the music scene once again with their highly anticipated third studio album, Obscene Daydreams, scheduled for release on September 20th from Fat Wreck Chords. Known for their infectious melodies, raw energy, and fiercely outspoken frontwoman Brenna Red, The Last Gang is set to deliver a hard-hitting collection of punk anthems that tackle themes of anger, defiance, love, and self-belief.

The new album, available for pre-order now, showcases the band’s evolution while maintaining the punk spirit that has garnered them a dedicated following. Fans can expect a blend of sharp, no-nonsense lyrics and powerful, energetic instrumentals that the band has become synonymous with. According to Red, “We don’t really have a theme. We’re just a bunch of punk rockers who like to make music and write about things that make us feel good and angry and alive.”

The album’s lead single, released earlier this summer, “Madness,” marks a departure from The Last Gang’s usual sound. “Madness” is the band’s love song, capturing a different side of their creative expression. Red shared the inspiration behind the track: “Madness is different than anything we’ve released. It was the second-to-last demo we introduced during the writing process, and it immediately felt like it was going somewhere. Simple but catchy, this story of hysterical-lunatic love is a good representation of the diversity of songs on the new record.”

The single is already making waves across streaming platforms, and the accompanying music video, on The Last Gang’s YouTube channel, has fans eagerly awaiting the full album. Adding to the excitement, The Last Gang will be hitting the road for a massive U.S. tour this August, with a special performance this weekend opening for NOFX.

But the surprises don’t stop there. The band has also released a second single, “Berlin To Rome,” a gritty punk anthem with a post-punk vibe. This track explores the band’s relationship with touring and their love for the cities they’ve played in over the years. The lyrics reflect the physical and mental toll of life on the road, with Red admitting, “Our aging bodies have logged many miles in the process, often feeling the pain from long drives deep in our bones. But the adventure and the uncertainty of it all keep us coming back. Despite the physical and mental anguish, we’d trade a suit and tie for twenty-hour drives any day and will likely continue to do so until our broken bodies are no longer able.”

With Obscene Daydreams, The Last Gang proves that they are a band unafraid to evolve while staying true to their punk rock roots. As fans gear up for the album’s release and the tour, one thing is certain: The Last Gang is back with a vengeance, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

The band’s summer tour has kicked off last week, sharing the stage with Seattles’ own, The Drowns and will be joining with Teenage Bottlerocket at the end of this month, heading to the UK mid- Septemeber and finishing the line on October 4th in Los Angeles with NOFX, as NOFX plays their final shows of their storied career.
