The reggae-punk supergroup The Kilograms are back with their latest single, “Faith & Love,” the second track unveiled from their upcoming debut full-length album, Beliefs & Thieves, set for release on April 4 via Rad Girlfriend Records and their own Weights and Measures label.
Formed in 2024, The Kilograms have quickly gained recognition with their all-star lineup, featuring Joe Gittleman (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Avoid One Thing), Michael McDermott (ex-The Bouncing Souls, Joan Jett), Sammy Kay, J Duckworth (Newport Secret Six), and Craig Gorsline (The Circle City Deacons). With a sound that fuses the groove-heavy rhythms of reggae, the raw energy of punk, and the infectious melodies of ska, The Kilograms have already made waves with their self-titled EP and a two-song single release.
Recorded by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls and mixed by Paul Kolderie (Pixies, Radiohead, Morphine), Beliefs & Thieves captures the essence of a band that has found its chemistry on the road and in the studio. “It’s been a cool time playing with these guys,” says bassist Joe Gittleman. “Beliefs & Thieves to me is like the scrapbook of our first year together as a band. It’s all in there.”
“Faith & Love” showcases the band’s signature style—blending driving basslines, tight percussion, soulful vocals, and rich, layered instrumentation. The track’s lyrics dive into themes of perseverance and unity, embracing a message of resilience in turbulent times. With its singalong chorus and infectious groove, the song
is a testament to the band’s ability to craft music that is both thought-provoking and deeply danceable.
The Kilograms’ forthcoming album brings together elements reminiscent of The Clash, the horn-driven punk of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the smooth, danceable grooves of The Pietasters, and the gritty roots-reggae vibes of The Aggrolites. It’s a bold and refreshing take on ska-punk that pays homage to its roots while carving out a distinct identity of its own.
With Beliefs & Thieves set to drop in just a few weeks, “Faith & Love” offers a glimpse of what’s to come—a record brimming with passion, energy, and musicianship from some of the most seasoned artists in the scene. Fans can stream the single now and catch The Kilograms on tour as they continue to spread their unique blend of punk, ska, and reggae to audiences everywhere.
