Swedish rock titans The Hives are back with a vengeance, announcing their forthcoming album The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, set to drop August 29 via Play It Again Sam. Known for their explosive energy, razor-sharp riffs, and uncontainable live performances, The Hives have once again proven why they are hailed as the “best live band on the planet” (SPIN). With a new single, “Enough Is Enough,” and a cinematic video shot in the grand city of Bucharest, the band is primed to electrify the rock world yet again.
Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Eik Kockum, the “Enough Is Enough” video sees The Hives stepping into the ring—literally—taking on pugilistic personas in a spectacle befitting their high-octane sound. The single itself encapsulates their signature blend of garage-rock grit and a newfound pop gloss, a perfect teaser for what promises to be a landmark record.
Recorded across an eclectic mix of studios, the album saw The Hives laying down tracks in both Yung Lean/YEAR0001’s domain and the historic Riksmixningsverket studio in Stockholm—owned by none other than ABBA’s Benny Andersson. Helmed by their long-time sonic architect Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Viagra Boys, Yung Lean, Elvira), the album also boasts the influence of some rock and roll heavyweights. The legendary Mike D of the Beastie Boys welcomed the band to his Malibu studio, adding his creative flair to the project, while Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age provided his expert insight to further hone the band’s sound.
For a band that has long been synonymous with raw, unbridled energy and impeccable showmanship, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives feels like a triumphant chapter in their storied career. Ever since their breakthrough with Veni Vidi Vicious (2000) and the worldwide smash Tyrannosaurus Hives (2004), The Hives have consistently delivered an electrifying brand of rock and roll, carving out a legacy that few can rival.
With their new album set to turn the volume up to 11 and their latest single already making waves, The Hives are once again poised to remind the world why they are one of the most exhilarating rock bands to ever grace the stage. Additionally to the news of the new album and release of their new single comes the announcement of The Hives 2025 World Tour, hitting Seattles Showbox Sodo, September 17th!
