The Drowns Turn It Up So You Can Put Down The Needle

On Their New Live Album, ‘Live at Rebellion

If there’s one thing louder than the amps at a Drowns show, it’s the energy of the crowd — and now, for the first time, that riotous energy is captured on record. Seattle’s own The Drowns have unleashed their first-ever live album, Live At Rebellion, out now via Pirates Press Records — and it’s a shot of pure punk adrenaline straight from the stage to your stereo.ppr417 1 b2 jacket

Recorded at the legendary Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, U.K., this isn’t just a live set — it’s a celebration. A decade in the making, the album captures a band at the height of its powers, in front of a crowd that’s lived every word and every beat right along with them.

“Within the first year of starting the band, we saw the reactions we were getting from people live, and we had the idea to record a live album,” says guitarist and vocalist Rev. “Almost a decade later now, we felt like the time was right.”

Right it was. Live At Rebellion is no tidy “greatest hits” repackaged with crowd noise — it’s a hand-picked, sweat-soaked banger of a setlist chosen for maximum ignition. From the righteous stomp of “Them Rats”, a working-class anthem against power and control, to the glam-slam boogie of “Live Like Yer Dyin’”, the band’s streetpunk pedigree shines through — equal parts fire and fun, fists and flash.

And if you had any doubt, they know their roots, their cover of “Ballroom Blitz” by glam titans Sweet is a glorious punch to the face of nostalgia, revved up and reimagined with all the leather-jacketed charm and chaos The Drowns bring to every stage they storm.

For a band built on touring tooth and nail, Rebellion Festival has long been a second home — and the choice to record there was no accident.

“Rebellion has always been a highlight of our year,” Rev explains. “We love the performances there because the energy from the crowd is raw and visceral. That’s why we made the choice to do it there in Blackpool.”

It’s the sound of a band that has earned every fan by hand — on pub stages, club nights, DIY festivals and far-flung punk dives across the globe.

Though the band’s sound is stamped with British punk bravado and New York grit, the backbone is pure Seattle rock ‘n roll — and the production team proves it. The live recording was captured by David Casey (Success, One Step Beyond), mixed by Evan Douglas Foster (The Sonics, Boss Martians), and mastered by none other than Jack Endino, the Seattle studio legend behind Nirvana, Mudhoney, and Soundgarden.

The band also credited Rebellion organizers Daz Russell and Daryl Smith for believing in the project and making it possible. As Rev puts it, “This album was a cumulative effort between people who still believe in rock ‘n’ roll. We couldn’t be more proud.”

With Live At Rebellion, The Drowns don’t just drop a live album — they plant a flag. It’s a document of sweat, solidarity, and sound, forged on festival stages and factory floors, built for the believers who still raise their fists and their voices in equal measure.

Whether you’ve caught them in the flesh or just cranked them in your car, this record is your passport to the front row.

Live At Rebellion is available now via Pirates Press Records on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms. Seattle! If you have yet to see The Drowns live, you get one last chance this year on August 17th at the Tractor Tavern with The Bad Things. Tickets Available Now.
