Stoke Signals Release, ‘Mummy’ Ahead of Upcoming Album, Make Dying Fun

By Ace Hartmann | Racketeer Broadcast Association  |

LA’s Stoke Signals are making waves in the So Cal punk scene, and they’re just getting started. Formed in early 2024 from the ashes of local punk acts Promise Me This and Holy Fangs, Stoke Signals exploded onto the scene in January, quickly earning a reputation for their high-energy sound and raw authenticity. Now, the band is gearing up for a major milestone with the release of their debut album Make Dying Fun on September 20 via Stay Tough Records.

Comprised of Giuliano Messina (vocals, guitar), Chris Perez (guitar, vocals), Jordan Calhoun (bass), and Michael Nusbaum (drums), Stoke Signals have wasted no time in making their mark. Their debut LP features 12 high-energy punk tracks that fans are eager to hear live at their record release show on November 1 at the Cinema Bar in Culver City, CA. Alongside the digital release, vinyl and cassette versions of Make Dying Fun will be available for purchase at the show, along with exclusive band merchandise.

The album’s third single, “Mummy,” drops this Friday, September 13, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most anticipated tracks of the release. Frontman Giuliano Messina gave some insight into the track’s message: “It’s mostly about fucking up your life sometimes to the point where all you can do is cope. Sometimes you can’t fix your mess-ups, and that’s just how it is, tough shit. You’re stuck where you are forever, unable to escape. Like a mummy, get it? That’s what it’s about.”

Stoke Signals’ unapologetic attitude and gritty, melodic sound are already earning them fans well beyond Southern California. With Make Dying Fun, they are poised to further cement their place in the punk world. For anyone who loves fast, melodic punk with a heavy dose of attitude, this is one release not to be missed.

Be sure to catch Stoke Signals’ album on September 20 and mark your calendars for the November 1st show in Culver City—a night guaranteed to bring the house down.
