Racketeer Radio KFQX The New Golden Age of Radio
Nearly 50 years ago, the Sex Pistols played a defining show at the 100 Club Punk Special in London, marking a turning point for punk rock. The intimate, riotous gig—featuring Subway Sect, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Clash—ignited a movement that would soon explode into mainstream consciousness. Now, in 2025, the surviving members of the Pistols—guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, and bassist Glen Matlock—return to the same venue to announce their long-awaited North American tour, this time joined by new frontman Frank Carter (Gallows, Pure Love, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes).
“This is where it all kicked off, really, all the punk,” says Cook, reflecting on the club’s historic significance.
For the first time in over two decades, the legendary punk pioneers will embark on a North American tour. The last time the Pistols hit the U.S. was in 2003, with then-vocalist John Lydon (formerly Johnny Rotten) in tow. This 2025 run with Carter begins September 16 at Dallas’ Longhorn Ballroom—a venue infamous in Sex Pistols lore for the chaos of their 1978 U.S. tour, where Jones recalls, “pigs’ hooves and bottles and what not slung at us by cowboys.” That Texas gig, along with others from the infamous ’78 tour, was immortalized in the “Live in the U.S.A.” album series, with the final installment, capturing their San Francisco performance, set for release on April 25.
“We were thinking of breaking up in San Francisco again,” Jones jokes, referencing the band’s historic implosion at Winterland Ballroom in 1978.
Why is the band choosing to tour now? With punk’s legacy more relevant than ever and a new generation embracing its anti-establishment ethos, the Sex Pistols are primed to prove that their music—and their message—still holds power in 2025. Whether this marks a new era for the band or one last hurrah, one thing is certain: the Pistols are ready to bring anarchy back to the stage. The Sex Pistols will do so in major cities across the U.S. and Canada, performing their classic 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols in full, alongside additional material. The tour will span from September 16 through October 16, concluding at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
The Sex Pistols will be in Seattle on October 13th at Showbox Sodo an all-ages show with tickets going on sale next Friday April 4th.
