In “OK, But This Is the Last Time,” The Offspring return to the familiar notion of being a sucker (the track is affectionately known among the band as “Self Esteem” part II.) A song with that’s drum-forward, and upbeat, the track explores the theme of being so enamored by someone in your life that you allow them to run the show. The band wants the interpretation to be left up to you but it’s a theme that everyone can resonate with in one way or another.
“One of the cool things about music and lyrics is that it should be open to interpretation. I’ve written some songs that are very much an actual story, like ‘Self Esteem,’ but I like that this song can be taken in different ways. It can be about your girlfriend, or your kids having a meltdown, and that’s part of the fun of it.” – Dexter Holland
