The Boy Detective – For The Record, Im not a Cannable Anymore

October 4, 2024
The Boy Detective - For The Record, Im not a Cannable Anymore
Punkerton Records

Just in time for the Halloween season, Punkerton Records is set to release a thrilling split 7″ vinyl that brings together the best of ska-punk and horror-inspired anthems. Featuring Long Island’s beloved ska-punk band Half Dizzy and Detroit’s eccentric ska act The Boy Detective, this special Halloween-themed release promises to be the perfect soundtrack for fans of upbeat punk rock with a spooky twist.

On Side B, The Boy Detective presents their eerie track titled “For The Record, I’m Not A Cannibal Anymore,” a ska-punk anthem full of resilience and dark humor. This track, out on October 4th, 2024, pulls no punches. Featuring ska-punk legends J. Navarro (of The Suicide Machines and Break Anchor) on vocals and Eric Abbey (of J. Navarro & the Traitors) on keys, the song tells a story of reclaiming lost passions—whether it’s music, art, or any deeply personal connection—after painful memories have clouded them.

With its unique blend of catchy ska beats and introspective lyrics, “For The Record, I’m Not A Cannibal Anymore” is more than just a Halloween-themed track. It’s an anthem of personal growth and triumph, woven together with the same humor and eccentricity that fans of The Boy Detective have come to expect.

What started as a fun, light-hearted project between friends Nic Good and Benny Capaul, The Boy Detective has quickly evolved into a force to be reckoned with in the ska-punk world. Originally focused on songs about their personal lives, the band has grown into a fully-formed collective, complete with a brass section, and their live performances have cemented them as one of the genre’s must-see acts.

Their debut live performance in 2022 was followed by the release of their album Art Theft in 2024, which pushed the boundaries of what modern ska-punk can be. With a mixture of humor, social commentary, and infectious energy, the band’s journey has only just begun, and this split release with Half Dizzy marks another milestone in their rise to prominence.

This Halloween, whether you’re planning a spooky party or just want some festive tunes to set the mood, the Half Dizzy/The Boy Detective split 7″ vinyl will deliver. From the infectious beats of Side A to the dark humor and introspective nature of Side B, this release is set to become a seasonal staple.

Fans of both bands can pre-save The Boy Detective’s track “For The Record, I’m Not A Cannibal Anymore” now, and the vinyl itself will be available on all major platforms.
