Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra Return with Dazzling New Collaborations Featuring Haley Reinhart

By Ace Hartmann | Racketeer Broadcast Association  |

Jeff Goldblum, the charismatic actor and accomplished jazz musician, has once again captivated audiences with his musical prowess. Teaming up with the talented singer, songwriter, and actress Haley Reinhart, Goldblum and his long-time band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, have released two new singles that are sure to delight fans of both pop and jazz. The duo’s latest covers, Taylor Swift’s beloved hit “Lover” and Loreen’s “Tattoo,” are now available digitally via Decca Records, with physical 7-inch copies set to release on September 7th, which are available for pre-order.

In discussing the new singles, Jeff Goldblum expressed his enthusiasm for working with Reinhart again, saying, “With apologies to Sammy Cahn, recording with Haley is even lovelier the second time around. She interprets Taylor Swift and Loreen with her own unique style and skill to make it sound like it’s the first time you hear these love songs sung.” This collaboration is a testament to Goldblum’s ability to blend genres and breathe new life into contemporary hits with a jazz twist.

Following the release of their latest EP, Plays Well With Others, Goldblum and the band embarked on a successful tour across the US and Europe. During their performances, they introduced short renditions of “Lover” and “Tattoo,” which quickly became crowd favorites. As the tour progressed, the band’s interpretation of these songs evolved, leading to the decision to record full arrangements. Haley Reinhart, known for her deep understanding of both pop and jazz, was the perfect choice to lend her voice to these tracks, adding a new layer of depth and emotion to the music.

Jeff Goldblum’s journey as a musician has been a remarkable one. Although he has been playing the piano for most of his life and performing with his band for the past 30 years, it was his appearance with soul-jazz star Gregory Porter on BBC’s Graham Norton Show that caught the attention of Decca Record executives. This pivotal moment led to the release of his debut album, The Capitol Studios Sessions, which soared to the top of the jazz charts in both the UK and the US. This success was followed by another No.1 album, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, in 2019.

Last year, Goldblum released the EP Plays Well With Others, showcasing his unique take on a collection of standards.

The EP featured an array of talented guest singers, including Kelly Clarkson, Mattiel Brown, Rodrigo Amarante, and Freda Payne, each bringing their own flair to the project. The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, with their impeccable arrangements, provided the perfect accompaniment to Goldblum’s idiosyncratic style.

The release of “Lover” and “Tattoo” continues Goldblum’s tradition of reimagining well-known songs through a jazz lens, creating something fresh and exciting. The combination of his playful piano melodies and Reinhart’s soulful vocals results in tracks that are both nostalgic and innovative. As Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra continue to push the boundaries of jazz, fans can look forward to more surprising and delightful collaborations in the future.

For now, listeners can enjoy these new interpretations of “Lover” and “Tattoo,” which are sure to become favorites in Jeff Goldblum’s ever-expanding musical repertoire. With the upcoming release of the physical 7-inch single, fans will have the opportunity to own a piece of this musical magic, further cementing Goldblum’s place in the world of jazz.
