With “All the Cool Kids,” Violet Saturn sets the tone for what fans can expect from the album as they share their wisdom and talents beyond their years with songs that can speak to Rock audiences that extend far past their fellow Gen Zers. Penned and sung by 17-year-old Lauren, “All the Cool Kids” addresses disillusions of the real world and some of the ugly yet relatable truths about life’s disappointments and perspectives. The first project Spencer (20) ever produced, “All the Cool Kids” features rich synths, varied sounds and guitar work recorded in his bedroom closet.

“We chose ‘All the Cool Kids’ as the centerpiece for the album because we loved the nonconformal message of it and how it celebrates individuality, being yourself and feeling your feelings—which is something we made a point to do while writing this entire project,” said Violet Saturn. “It’s been about two years since we wrote it and it is still one of our very favorites and feels so timeless.”

All the Cool Kids with its brash, Pop-Punk vibe is an undeniable blend of the duo’s many influences including Avril Lavigne, Paramore, Lana Del Rey and No Doubt. Filled with an extra dose of angst and frustration, the collection of songs was undoubtedly influenced by period in which they were written—while stuck at home in the pandemic, suspended from performing each week. Initially written on a home computer, when recording the final project, the Southern California natives turned to heavy hitters like drummer Josh Freese (Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Paramore) and bassist Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction, Alanis Morissette) to help bring the fun, vibrant yet heavy songs to life.

Brother-and-sister act Violet Saturn summon the raw energy and provocations of Pop-Punk and Classic Rock with a fresh, Gen Z twist. 17-year-old lead singer Lauren Carr Reed brings powerful vocals and an impressive range to the band’s addictive, angsty songs, while 20-year-old Spencer holds down the instrumentals and production, leading the band and its invigorating yet polished rock sound on guitar. Together, they have a sound so seamless it could only be the product of two artists who have grown up together and been playing and writing as a unit for as long as they can remember. As kids in Southern California, it just always seemed inevitable that they would make it, together —and now, already having had a song in rotation on Los Angeles Rock station KLOS and signed a contract with Big Machine (BMR Rock), Violet Saturn is making good on that early promise. “It was always a known thing that we were going to pursue music,” says Lauren. “We never had a backup plan.” Violet Saturn most recently released the addictive tune about jealousy, “Who Is She?”
