The Honest Vultures
The Wake
Available March 31 2023
The Honest Vultures, an alt-country band from Portland, OR, bringing music that is filled with delightfully honest depictions of life as a vulture, sprinkled with a healthy dose of substance abuse and godlessness.
Originally from Eastern Oregon and Southern Washington, the Vultures grew up surrounded by the sounds of old country, gospel, and 90s radio country, but both went on to join metal and punk bands when they left home and moved to Portland.
Today they are influenced by numerous folk-punk, murderfolk, old country, and bluegrass artists and have worked hard on their first EP to create relatable music for anyone else who is also doing their best to navigate the human condition.
The Honest Vultures are at it again with their new record "The Wake", out March 31st. In the wake of the pandemic, and after losing several loved ones, the new album is ripe with tales of brutal loss and the crooked pathway through grief and depression that inevitably follows. The record winds its way through substance abuse, caregiver burden, ego death, and even some triumph as it makes its way to the closing track.
As always the Vultures brought their friends! Welcoming Clyde McGee (Bridge City Sinners, Clyde and the Milltailers) on Banjo, Melissa Madueno (Beggars Canyon), Tim X. Sweeney (Clyde and the Milltailers) & Brandon Hetu on Bass, and Kyle Sparks (Beggars Canyon) & James Rossi (Clyde and the Milltailers) on Fiddle.
