Noir Citty Seattle – SIFF Cinema Egyptian

NOIR CITY: Seattle returns to the SIFF Cinema Egyptian February 16-22 for its 16th year. The festival will be seven days of thematically linked features, pairing foreign-language films with movies made in the United States and United Kingdom. FNF founder Eddie Muller will present shows February 16-18 and then pass the hosting honors over to acclaimed mystery-novel authors Vince and Rosemarie Keenan (“Renee Patrick”) February 19-22.

At the 5:00 pm opening night reception on February 16, attendees can enjoy a libation at the Noir Bar and bask in the musical stylings of the Casey MacGill Trio. The festival screenings kick off at 6:00 pm with the FNF’s newest restoration, Never Open That Door | No abras nunca esa puerta (Argentina, 1952). Based on a story by legendary American thriller writer Cornell Woolrich, the film is a significant example of the cross-cultural cinematic legacy shared by the United States and Argentina during the post-WWII era. Opening night’s second feature is Street of Chance (1942) with Burgess Meredith and Claire Trevor — and the first case of amnesia noir!

On Saturday, February 17, at 5:00 pm in the Egyptian theater lobby, NOIR CITY will celebrate the release of Eddie Muller’s Noir Bar: Cocktails Inspired by the World of Film Noir with a special book signing in partnership with Seattle’s University Book Store. Copies of Eddie Muller’s Noir Bar, as well as Kitty Feral and the Case of the Missing Marshmallow Monkey, will be available for sale from the bookstore on site. Film Noir Foundation merchandise will be available at its own table.
