Catbite is back with a bang, unveiling their latest single, “Tired of Talk,” from their highly anticipated EP, Doom Garden. The track, featuring none other than Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump on vocals and trumpet, showcases the band’s ever-expanding sound, blending infectious ska rhythms with a punk-rock edge. Not only does Stump lend his unmistakable voice to the song, but he also co-wrote the track, marking a rare collaboration between the pop-punk icon and one of today’s most exciting ska acts.
Adding to the creative energy, Catbite teamed up with animator Sam Grinberg—best known for his work on The Simpsons and Adult Swim—to craft an immersive, black-and-white animated music video for “Tired of Talk.” Using green screen magic, the band members, along with Stump, step into Grinberg’s surreal world, adding a visual element that amplifies the song’s intensity and message.
Guitarist Tim Hildebrand shared his excitement over Stump’s involvement: “We knew we wanted a guest vocal on this song, and Patrick was at the top of our list. We never thought he’d actually say yes, but somehow, by the miracle of ska, he did! He went above and beyond, and we’re ecstatic with how it turned out.”
For Stump, the admiration is mutual: “Catbite is one of the real greats of this generation of ska music. A wave that hasn’t even hit the beach yet. I was so amped to be asked to work with them, and I can’t wait to see where they end up.”
The single sets the stage for Doom Garden, slated for release on May 9, 2025, via Bad Time Records. According to vocalist Brit Luna, the EP is deeply personal, exploring themes of self-reflection, growth, and healing: “It’s about self-love, boundaries, and coming to terms with the past to build a better future.”
Beyond the studio, Catbite is gearing up for a massive 2025 tour that will take them across the U.S. and beyond, along with festival appearances. The band’s electrifying live performances have solidified them as one of the most exhilarating acts in modern ska, blending elements from all three waves of the genre with a contemporary twist.
Since their formation in 2018, Catbite has been on a meteoric rise, breaking through with their self-titled debut and 2021’s Nice One, both of which received widespread acclaim. With sold-out shows, high-profile collaborations, and a growing international fanbase, they are proving that ska is not just alive but thriving in the modern music landscape.
With Doom Garden, Catbite is poised to make their biggest impact yet. If “Tired of Talk” is any indication, the EP will not only honor ska’s storied history but also push the genre into bold, uncharted territory. Don’t miss out—turn it up, and let the new wave of ska wash over you!
