Celebrating an incredible 31 years in the music industry, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has remained a driving force in the world of swing, jazz, and Dixieland, while consistently captivating audiences worldwide. Originally hailing from Ventura, California, the band, co-founded by frontman Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, has performed an astounding 150 shows annually, with their recorded music selling over two million albums to date.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy rose to prominence during the 1990s, reigniting the swing movement at a time when grunge ruled the airwaves. With a sound that combines classic American jazz with contemporary flair, the group became iconic for their energetic performances. Their residency at Los Angeles’ Derby nightclub helped them gain recognition, and their appearance in the 1996 indie film Swingers solidified their status as leaders of the swing revival.

The band’s core lineup, featuring Scotty Morris (lead vocals and guitar), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (double bass and vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet), and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger), brings a dynamic sound to the stage. Their music, which blends original compositions with swing traditions, keeps the genre alive for new generations of listeners.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s resume is nothing short of impressive. The band’s music has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including Friends, Despicable Me, and Phineas & Ferb, as well as live performances on Dancing With The Stars, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Super Bowl XXXIII Halftime Show. They have shared the stage with prestigious symphony orchestras and even performed for three U.S. Presidents.

Now, as the band embarks on its 31st anniversary tour, they show no signs of slowing down. With 11 albums under their belt, over 3,000 live performances, and a deep love for swing music, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy continues to deliver the infectious rhythm and joy that has made them beloved for decades.
