Fresh off a relentless year of touring and recording, Militarie Gun have announced their next big strike: God Save the Gun, the follow-up to 2023’s acclaimed Life Under the Gun, is set for release on October 17 via Loma Vista Recordings. Along with the album announcement, the band has given us the first bullet with ‘B A D I D E A‘. The new single is accompanied along by a music video. Watch and listen.
The new album was crafted by bandleader Ian Shelton alongside longtime collaborators Phillip Odom, James Goodson of Dazy, and MSPAINT’s Nick Panella. Produced by Riley MacIntyre (Adele, Arlo Parks, The Kills), God Save the Gun promises a raw, unflinching look at personal struggles, addiction, and self-reflection — all delivered through Militarie Gun’s unmistakable mix of garage-punk grit and melodic punch.
Shelton doesn’t shy away from the personal stakes, saying:
“I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it. Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.”
Alongside the announcement comes the blistering new single “B A D I D E A,” a swaggering, Ramones-worthy anthem with a sing-shouted hook that demands to be played loud. Directed by Shelton himself, the accompanying video is, in his words, “a celebration of vices… a new iteration of yourself looking back at a moment you made a mistake while never truly reflecting.”
The record will also feature previously released single “Thought You Were Waving” and a full tracklist of sharp, high-energy cuts made for sweaty rooms and shouting along.

Tales of the absurd and bizarre made their way to the airwaves through this strange and eccentric old time radio series. Ripley's Believe It or Not starred non other than Robert Ripley himself as he shared his out-of-this-world discoveries and experiences while traveling around the globe. His standard practice was to take note of the unusual sights and practices he came across during his travels and chronicled them in his journal. It was not until 1930 that the program was made available to a public audience. Hear audio scripts from his journal while we play the best music for your morning!
