Racketeer Radio faithful! Acclaimed Philadelphia-bred singer-songwriter Dave Hause announces the release of his seventh solo album, ‘…And The Mermaid,’ available September 26, 2025, via Blood Harmony Records (USA) and SBAM Records (EU). This isn’t just another album; it’s a defiant roar, a powerful rock record, and the sound of a seasoned artist rediscovering the electrifying joy of a true rock and roll band. You can hear this with their first insight into the album’s sound on ‘Enough Hope‘, the bands first single.
Hause has long been a chameleon of the American music scene, known for seamlessly blending heartland rock, folk rock, and the raw energy of his punk and hardcore origins in Philadelphia-area bands like The Loved Ones and The Falcon. After a successful foray into the Americana and singer-songwriter world with albums like 2021’s Blood Harmony and 2023’s Drive it Like it’s Stolen, Hause had an epiphany.
“As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be in a rock and roll band,” Hause reflected, drawing inspiration from a scene in Goodfellas. “This record is that rock and roll band distilled into 10 songs.”
This profound realization fueled the creation of ‘…And The Mermaid,’ recorded at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC, by Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung). The album offers a welcome shock to the system, blending Hause’s signature lyrical elan and gift for surging melodies with his keen vocals and some deliciously sharp musical elbows.
Crucially, this time, Hause isn’t going it alone. While he’s been backed by various musicians throughout his solo career, ‘…And The Mermaid‘ marks the first time he’s brought his long-time, steady band, The Mermaid, into the studio. This formidable lineup includes his brother Tim Hause on guitar and vocals, bassist Luke Preston, keyboardist Mark Masefield, and drummer Kevin Conroy.
Hause hopes listeners will experience a similar epiphany to his own, realizing that being part of something larger than yourself can bring a profound sense of meaning.
“I hope people take away the belief that we can do things that are greater than ourselves when we decide to work together,” he shares. “That’s what a band promises. That’s what a live music event promises… If you can work together, it’s better than being isolated and living in fear…
..This is the first time I took this band into the studio and said, ‘Whatever happens, dammit, we’re going to sound like us. I’m not going to Nashville to hire the best players money can buy. This is our sound,’” Hause says of the ethos behind …And The Mermaid.
After nearly 30 years in music, the album also marks several other firsts. It’s the first in his solo career to feature the full band as part of the songwriting process. It also includes Hause’s first cover song on an album of original material—a harmony-laden rendition of “Bible Passages” by Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath. “I finally felt comfortable enough to include a song I believe in, even though I didn’t write it.”
The album is led by the stomping first single, “Enough Hope,” a track that takes the powerful point of view of those in power laughing at the working class. It’s a perfectly satirical piece of social commentary that fans have come to expect and cherish from Hause.
While Pacific Northwest dates are not currently on the schedule, Dave Hause will be extensively touring the US, UK, and EU throughout 2025 in support of ‘…And The Mermaid.’ He’ll be supporting The Gaslight Anthem and The Bouncing Souls in select US markets, and headlining and playing festivals across the UK and EU.
