Racketeer Radio KFQX The New Golden Age of Radio
The Rumjacks are back and bolder than ever! Celtic punk maestros are set to drop their sixth studio LP, Dead Anthems, on February 7th, via Four Four Records. With only a matter of weeks, the new album is set to sail and in celebration, The Rumjacks release a new single from the upcoming album, featuring Dropkick Murphys, titled ‘Cold Like This‘
The Rumjacks, formed in 2008 and rejuvenated in 2020 with the arrival of lead singer Mike Rivkees, since the band has been on a tear. Their fiery blend of punk rebellion and Celtic soul is as intoxicating as a pint of stout in a storm, and Dead Anthems promises to kick up the intensity another notch.
Recorded in the legendary rock haven of Asbury Park, New Jersey, this opus finds Rivkees sharing the production helm with none other than Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls. To sweeten the mix, Kevin Bivona of The Interrupters has lent his golden touch as mixer. Together, they’ve bottled lightning in 12 tracks that are equal parts rowdy rebellion and heartfelt homage.
The buzz began with the album’s lead single, “Come Hell or High Water,” Rooted in Rivkees’ own immigrant heritage, the track is a love letter to resilience, drenched in Celtic melodies and powered by punk grit. Followed up by ‘Irish Goodbye on St. Valentine’s Day’ which has already stirred up a frenzy.
The album’s newest single, “Cold Like This,” features a guest appearance by none other than Ken Casey of Dropkick Murphys. It’s a rollicking sea shanty inspired by braving the brutal Boston winters—a tale of frost, fury, and friendship.
Not content to rest on their laurels, The Rumjacks have also penned a heartfelt tribute to the late, great Shane MacGowan of The Pogues. “Some Legends Never Die” is a stirring homage to the man who gave the world a new lens through which to view its heartaches and hopes.
The Rumjacks are a truly international outfit, with members hailing from Boston, Berlin, Belfast, and Milan. Despite the miles between them, their chemistry is electric, a testament to their shared passion for music that connects cultures and continents.
Dead Anthems is shaping up to be more than an album—it’s an event. A celebration of tradition, innovation, and the raw, untamed energy that has made Celtic punk a global phenomenon. So raise your glasses and prepare for a musical maelstrom. The Rumjacks are back, and they’re louder than ever!
Stay tuned for the fireworks, folks. February 7th is just around the corner. Until then, keep the needle on the record and your ear to the ground. The Rumjacks are rumbling!
